That drinking enough water is important, everyone knows. But why is it so important? And did you know that not drinking enough water can have an effect on your performance during exercise? We've listed the benefits for you!

Waste products

Drinking 1.5 liters a day prevents your overall system from slowing down and accumulating waste products. Water is used by the body to remove toxins and waste products from our bodies. For this process to work properly, drinking plenty of water is very important.

Prevents headaches

Often the cause of headaches is a lack of water. Try not to reach for a paracetamol right away, but drink a few glasses of water first. You will notice that the headache will diminish.

Losing weight

If you want to lose weight, it is important to eat healthy and exercise enough. But drinking water also plays an important role in losing weight! If your body becomes dehydrated, the liver also dehydrates and therefore your digestion can no longer function properly. When losing weight, your fat reserves are claimed; they are burned. During that burning, toxins are released. When you drink a lot of water, these substances can leave the body more easily.

The body consists largely of water, so it is not surprising that the body functions better when you drink enough water. You feel fitter and have more energy to move. Just a little bit of fluid deficiency can cause your ability to concentrate to decrease.

It is important to drink enough water during and after exercise. With intense exercise, you can lose as much as 1 to 2 liters of fluid. To perform well, you also need to drink enough water. Don't start drinking only when you get thirsty because then you are actually already too late. Drinking enough water is very important.
